Supply Single Edge Max Review (2025) – The Best Razor Yet?
/The Beard, the Beach, and the Blade
Supply recently sent me their brand-new razor – the Single Edge Max. Now, if you’ve been following me for a while, you’ll know this is exciting stuff. Supply has a solid reputation for making high-quality razors. But there’s a slight problem. I don’t shave.
Not properly, anyway. I’ve had a short beard for years – the kind of beard that says “responsible adult” but also “might own vinyl records.” I only ever shave the neck and cheek line to keep things tidy. So, you can imagine my dilemma: how on earth do I write a review for a razor that I won’t be using to its full facial potential? So I made a decision – a bold one, at least by my standards. I decided to shave my entire face.
Well… almost.
I got halfway through and realised I just couldn’t do it. I stopped at a goatee. It was a compromise between science (testing the razor) and self-respect (not wanting to look like my 20-year-old passport photo). Still, with a good chunk of my face clean-shaven, I managed to get a proper feel for the razor. I had a few really good shaves with it, and I think I can give you a solid insight into what to expect – whether you’re a daily shaver, a weekend trimmer.
We were away for the weekend in Devon, by the seaside in the southwest of England. The weather was glorious – blue skies, seagulls, and I thought, if I’m going to shave it all off (or most of it), it might as well be here. Nobody knows me. Devon felt safe.
Now, a bit of background on me and shaving: I’ve got pretty forgiving skin. I don’t usually suffer from irritation or razor burn, and cuts are rare (touch wood). I tend to use shaving gel or foam because I like a bit of lather, but for this experiment, I brought along Supply’s own shaving cream. All in, I was ready. And yes, few days later… the beard made its triumphant return. Not because the razor was bad – far from it. So, let me tell you how the Supply Single Edge Max performed – from the neck to the cheeks, and even that tricky bit under the jaw.
Unboxing the Supply Single Edge Max – A Premium Experience from the Start
The new Supply Single Edge Max arrives in a sleek matte black box. It screams premium before you’ve even opened it — and I know good packaging when I see it. If a brand takes time to present their product this well, it usually means they've taken even more care with what’s inside.
The razor I received is the silver version, and it looks absolutely stunning. It’s surprisingly light in the hand — lighter than I expected, to be honest. Personally, I would’ve liked just a bit more weight to it, but that’s a preference thing. Some people like their razors light and nimble.
That said, the build quality is phenomenal. Every angle, every curve is crafted with precision. It’s a razor that feels expensive — and it should, because it is. But you know what? The price makes sense when you’re holding it. It’s made to last. Inside the box, you’ll also find 8 Black Label blades neatly tucked into the SwitchBlade™ Reload Cartridge. Now, there is a little learning curve when it comes to changing the blades — I’ll be honest. My first attempt was a bit awkward, but once you get the hang of it, it becomes quick and satisfying. It feels engineered rather than fiddly.
A really nice touch is the pivoting head, which glides over the contours of your face without effort. The Max just… flows. It adapts. And for someone like me, who doesn’t usually shave, that flexibility made the process feel smoother and less daunting. Oh, and if you’re into keeping things neat and off the countertop, it even comes with a wall mount. Very cool, very minimal, very Supply.
But beyond the specs and the shiny silver finish, this razor gives you what Supply is known for — a shaving experience. It’s not just about removing hair. It’s about slowing down, taking care of yourself, and getting that clean, close result with zero drama. And that, my friend, is where the Single Edge Max really shines.
My Shaving Experience – From Beard to Goatee (and a Closer Shave Than Ever)
As you know from the intro, I don’t usually go all in when it comes to shaving. But this time, I had a full face of beard to tackle. So, I thought it would be a real test for the Single Edge Max.
And to be honest, the razor handled it brilliantly. I’m not exaggerating when I say I don’t remember the last time I had such a close shave. I started with the neck, and in my excitement (and slightly clumsy enthusiasm), I did give myself a tiny nick. Totally my fault — not the razor’s. After that, I took a breath, slowed down, and the rest of the shave was absolutely smooth. No pulling, no irritation, just that satisfying glide that makes you realise you're using something special.
Then I moved up to both sides of my face and at the very last minute, I decided to stop at a goatee. I couldn’t go fully baby-faced. It just didn’t feel right. But honestly? The shave was so good I was tempted. I used Supply’s shaving cream, which paired perfectly with the razor — it softened the hair, gave a nice lather, and helped everything glide beautifully.
To finish it off, I spritzed on one of my absolute favourite Supply products — their After Shave Spray. It’s refreshing, smells clean without being overpowering, and leaves the skin feeling like it’s just had a spa moment. I genuinely love that stuff.
Final thoughts.
First, this whole experience actually changed my grooming routine. I’ve decided to keep my beard a bit shorter now — and I’ve been told (more than once) that it looks better. So thank you, Supply, for the unintentional style upgrade.
Second, if you're someone who truly enjoys shaving and appreciates a close, smooth result, the Single Edge Max is absolutely worth trying. And finally, if you’re looking to upgrade your shaving ritual — make it a little more luxurious, a bit more thoughtful — this razor delivers.
It’s premium, it’s efficient, and above all, it’s satisfying to use.
